Food prices in the EU rose by an average of 2,8%

Rosstat has prepared information on consumer price indices in the European countries on the basis of Eurostat publications, national statistical services.

By the end of November 2012 year compared to October of this year, consumer prices in the European Union (includes 27 nations) decreased by 0,1% In January-November this year, the EU inflation rate recorded in 2%.

In Russia, consumer prices for goods and services increased by 0,3%, in January-November – by 6%.

Most prices in November fell by Malta (-1,9%) and Cyprus (-1%). In most countries, deflation was 0,5-0,1%.

In Austria, price Poland and Slovakia rose 0,1%.

Since the beginning of the year, the highest inflation has been observed in Hungary (+5%), Romania (+4,2%).

The lowest inflation since the beginning of the year was in Greece (+0,6%) and in Sweden (+0,8%).

From countries, non-EU, high inflation in November was observed in Belarus (+1,7%).

for 11 months, prices have increased in Belarus on 20,1%. In Ukraine the prices have decreased by 0,4%.

Consumer prices for food in Russia increased by 0,4%, increase in prices was observed in the period from the beginning of the current year 5,8%. In the EU, on average, food prices rose by 0,5%, in January-November – by 2,8%.

In November 2012 d. among the EU countries, the most significant increase in consumer food prices compared to the previous month was observed in Malta, in Germany and Austria (1,1-1,4%); since the beginning of the year – in Hungary (7,5%), Romania, Malta (6,3%).

At the same time in Bulgaria, Greece, Ireland, Cyprus and Portugal foods in the past month fell by 0,1-1,0%.
